Our partnership with St John’s Church is a treasured part of our school community and plays an important role in nurturing our Christian vision of ‘Growing Together in One Family’. Throughout the year, we worship and celebrate together through a number of special services held in church, including our Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Leavers’ Services. These occasions provide opportunities for children, staff, families and the wider community to come together in worship, reflection and thanksgiving, strengthening the links between school and church.

Children also play an active role in the life of the church and wider community. We are proud to support and lead a variety of community events throughout the year, sharing our gifts and talents with others. At Christmas, children enjoy singing at the church’s festive tea party, bringing joy to members of the local community. Our choir also performs alongside the Golcar Band and Colne Valley Choir, taking part in musical celebrations that bring people together and showcase the confidence, enthusiasm and talents of our pupils as they flourish.

We welcome Open the Book into school each half term into school which is delivered by Reverend Simon and members of St John's Church. Through Open the Book, children develop their understanding of Christian beliefs and values while exploring important themes such as courage, friendship, kindness, forgiveness and trust. Each session includes opportunities for reflection and wonder, encouraging children to think deeply about how the stories connect to their own lives and experiences.

Our strong relationship with St John’s Church is further strengthened through the involvement of Reverend Simon, who is an active member of our Governing Board. His contribution helps to support the spiritual life of the school. Through worship, service and community engagement, our partnership with St John’s Church enriches the experiences of our children and helps them to develop as compassionate, responsible and active members of society.
