St John's CE (VA) J and I School

Behaviour

At St John's Church School, our vision of "Growing Together in One Family" underpins every aspect of school life. We are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive and caring community where every child and adult feels safe, valued, respected and supported to flourish. Rooted in our Christian foundation, we strive to ensure that the love of Jesus Christ is evident in all that we do, shaping not only our worship and religious education but also the relationships, attitudes and values that define daily life within our school family.

We believe that true flourishing encompasses academic success, personal wellbeing, spiritual growth and positive relationships. As members of one school family, we encourage and support one another to grow in confidence, character and understanding. We aspire for our children, as they develop physically and intellectually, to also grow socially, emotionally and spiritually, gaining respect for themselves, for others and for the world around them as part of God's creation.

To realise this vision, we are committed to providing a rich and engaging curriculum while also nurturing the values and life skills that enable individuals and communities to thrive. We encourage all members of our school family, including pupils, staff, parents, governors, church and the wider community, to work, learn and grow together with kindness, compassion and mutual respect. Through shared experiences and strong relationships, we foster a culture of trust and belonging where everyone is encouraged to contribute, achieve their potential and flourish.

Guided by our Christian values, we seek to develop a community that is rooted in fairness, justice, tolerance and understanding. By learning to live and work alongside one another with empathy and integrity, we strengthen our school family and create an environment where all can flourish and where our vision of "Growing Together in One Family" becomes a lived reality every day.

St John’s School aspires to ensure that all members of the community feel safe, secure and valued at school. As well as teaching the National Curriculum, we feel that it is important to teach all members of the community to work, play and behave alongside each other. This will lead to a community based on mutual respect and trust where we can live and work together in a supportive way. All members of the community need to be aware of issues of right and wrong, fairness and justice and tolerance.

Please view our Relationships and Behaviour Policy to learn how we encourage positive behaviour in our school.
